Mountain West Men Making Presence Felt In NET Rankings

AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST

  • The Mountain West is celebrating its 25th season of men’s basketball during the 2023-24 campaign.

  • In the current NET rankings, the Mountain West has six programs ranked among the top 45: Utah State (19), Colorado State (20), San Diego State (25), New Mexico (36), Nevada (43) and Boise State (44). These six teams are a combined 84-16 on the season.

  • The Mountain West is one of four conferences (Big 12, 9; Big East, 6; MW, 6; SEC, 6) with six or more teams ranked among the top 45 of the current NET rankings.

  • The Mountain West is 104-38 (.732) in nonconference action in 2023-24, the fourth-best nonconference record among the 32 conferences. The MW has had a nonconference winning percentage of .600 or better in each of the last four seasons.

  • The Mountain West is one of two conferences (Big 12) that have four teams with 14 or more wins on the year.

  • Utah State is one of four schools (Grand Canyon, Ole Miss, Princeton) with one or fewer losses on the season.

  • Best in the WEST. The Mountain West is 24-7 against the Pac-12 (6-1) and West Coast Conference (18-6) in 2023-24.

  • The Mountain West is one of two conferences (Big 12) to have five or more teams with an overall winning percentage of .800 or better.

  • The Mountain West is the only conference to have all its teams finish the nonconference slate with a winning percentage above .500.

  • Two Mountain West teams are ranked in this week’s USA Today Coaches poll, with Utah State at No. 17 and San Diego State at No. The Aggies are also ranked No. 16 in the Associated Press poll.

  • The Mountain West is one of six conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, SEC) that have multiple teams ranked in the USA Today Coaches poll.

  • Heading into the 11th week of the season, Boise State, Colorado State, Nevada and New Mexico are receiving votes in the national polls.

  • For the second week in a row, the Mountain West has multiple teams ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll with San Diego State and Utah State both among the top 25.

  • Two MW guards rank among the top five in the nation in total assists. Utah State’s Darius Brown II leads the nation with 125 assists, while Colorado State’s Isaiah Stevens is fifth with 114 assists.

  • Two players from the Mountain West are among the top 15 in the country in double-doubles posted. San Diego State’s Jaedon LeDee and Utah State’s Great Osobor are tied for 14th with eight each.

  • CSU’s Stevens and SDSU’s LeDee have been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 and the Lute Olson watch lists. Additionally, Utah State’s Osobor was named to the Lute Olson watch list.

  • The Mountain West is one of five conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, SEC) to have three or more student-athletes on the Lute Olson watch list.

  • Mountain West programs have won six nonconference tournaments this season.

  • The Mountain West has had six Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week in 2023-24, the most of any conference this season.

  • Utah State has won 15 games in a row, which is tied for the longest win streak in the NCAA along with Samford.

  • Mountain West teams have posted 40 wins by 20 or more points this season.
