Cowboys Wrestling Well Represented In NCAA's Second Of Three Coaches' Polls

LARAMIE – The NCAA on Thursday released its second of three wrestling coaches’ poll, featuring a quartet of Cowboys in both the poll and RP The cowboys had a quartet appear in both.

Jore Volk (125) led the way for the Cowboys. He checked in at No. 4 in the RPI and No. 11 in the coaches’ ranking. Volk is 19-6 on the season and that includes a 7-6 mark against ranked foes.

Joey Novak (197) boasted a No. 14 ranking in the RPI and posted a No. 21 rank in the coaches’ poll. Novak is 18-10 on the year with a 6-8 record against ranked wrestlers.

Gabe Willochell (149) was No. 23 in both rankings. He’s 16-8 on the season and 1-5 against ranked guys.

Cole Brooks (141) rounded out the Pokes in the poles at No. 30 in the RPI and No. 31 in the coaches’ poll. He’s 11-5 on the season and 1-4 against ranked competition.

The coaches’ ranking and RPI are two of several criteria that’s weighed when it comes time for NCAA selections and seeding. The third and final coaches’ rank will be released at the end of the month in addition to conference allocations.
