Four Cowgirls On MW Conference 25th Season Women's Basketball Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 9, 2024) – Wyoming has a conference high four Cowgirls on the Mountain West Conference 25th season Women’s Basketball team. Ashley Elliott (2002-05), Liv Roberts (2015-18), Aubrey Vandiver (2007-11) and Hanna Zavecz (2005-08) are the Cowgirls selections..

 

Elliott, who was a 2015 honoree to the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame, was a two-time First Team All-Mountain West selection. Elliott, who was also a Kodak/WBCA Honorable Mention All-America her senior season, was fourth all-time in program history in made 3-pointers at the time of her graduation. Eliott was also a four-time All-Academic Mountain West Team member and was a two-time MW Scholar-Athlete. Elliott played in all 115 games of her college career and graduated from UW in 2005 with her degree in Business Administration.

 

Roberts. one of only two Cowgirls to be named Mountain West Player of the year (2017-18), was a two-time All-MW Team selection during her career. Roberts was also a member of the All-Defensive Team and was a three-time MW Scholar-Athlete. Roberts appears in the program’s all-time career records list in 11 different statistical categories. Roberts graduated in 2018 with her degree in Elementary Education.

 

Vandiver, who was inducted into the UW Athletics Hall of Fame this past fall, was a three-time All-Mountain West honoree. She received MW Player of the Year accolades, averaging 19.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during her senior season. During her career at Wyoming, Vandiver was an academic all-district and all-conference selection. Vandiver holds the single-season program record for points with 625 (2010-11) and finished her career sixth in program history with 1,654 career points and is still seventh.

 

Zavecz, was a two-time Honorable Mention All-America selection, a four-time All-Mountain West honoree and was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, twice. She was also a MW-All Academic Team selection and was a Scholar-Athlete. Zavecz, who was named to the All-District VII First Team, is fifth in program history with 1,746 career points and helped lead the Cowgirls to the 2007 WNIT title and an appearance in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Zavecz was a 2016 inductee into the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame.
