Cowboys Basketball Dealing With Another Offseason Rebuild

Wyoming basketball coach Jeff Linder is facing another off-season focused on rebuilding the roster.

The good news is the Cowboys have added some interesting additions to the roster, but at the same time they have seen their 2023-24 roster slimmed down by another off-season of players opting to transfer out of the program.

Six Cowboys have entered the transfer portal.

— Freshman Cam Manyawu

— Freshman Kale Combs

— Senior Brendan Wenzel

— Sophomore Caden Powell

— Freshman Jacob Theodosious

— And freshman Jonas Sirtautas.

Cody Tucker reported that Wenzel has reportedly drawn interest from more than 20 Division 1 schools, including New Mexico, UNLV and Utah State.

Linder has not wasted time adding players that will fit into the roster for the 2024-25 season.

The Cowboys did sign Jehvion Starwood (6-3 guard), Dominic Pangonis (6-5 guard) Dylan Warlick (6-5 forward) and Oliver Faubert (6-9 wing) during last November’s signing period. They also have added transfer Oobi Agbim, a graduate of Rangview High School in Aurora, who was with Division II Fort Lewis College a year ago. He earned 1st Team All-RMAC honors, and the conference tournament MVP.

“All we can control is what we do,” Linder told the Casper Star-Tribune. “We’re going to get them here and do our best every day to get them to become the best player they can be knowing there’s a lot of things we can’t control.”
