Gibbs Earns Invitation To Football's East-West Shrine Bowl All-Star Game

Laramie– University of Wyoming graduate linebacker Easton Gibbs accepted an invitation to play in this year’s East-West Shrine Bowl All-Star Game.  The game will be played on Thursday at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas.  The 99th East-West Shrine Bowl will kick off at 6 p.m., Mountain Time and will be televised live on NFL Network.

 

Gibbs concluded his Wyoming career ranked No. 8 in school history in total tackles with 362 career tackles.  He finished the 2023 season ranked No. 13 among all active Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in total tackles, with 362. 

Gibbs was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference in 2023 by MW Coaches and Media, Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele.  Gibbs was also named to Preseason Watch Lists for the Chuck Bednarik Award (Nation’s Outstanding Defender), Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Nation’s Best Defensive Player) and Butkus Award (Nation’s Best Linebacker.)  He was also named First Team All-Mountain West in 2022 by MW Head Coaches and Media and Phil Steele.  

 

He helped lead Wyoming to four bowl games during his playing career and three bowl championships, including the 2019 Arizona Bowl Championship, the 2021 Famous Idaho Bowl Championship, an appearance in the 2022 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl and the 2023 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl Championship.

 

A native of Temecula, Calif., Gibbs completed his bachelor’s degree in finance from Wyoming in December of 2023. 

 

Gibbs follows in the footsteps of several other recent Cowboys to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl, including: center Chase Roullier in 2017, safety Andrew Wingard in 2019 and place-kicker Cooper Rothe in 2020.
