Cowboy Football Settles In At War Memorial For Final Week Of Spring Work

LARAMIE, Wyo.  (April 24, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowboys entered their final week of spring practice on Tuesday with the 13th practice of the spring inside War Memorial Stadium. Wyoming’s 14th of the season will be Thursday with an open scrimmage inside War Memorial Stadium.

The Spring Game in Cheyenne was cancelled due to the threat of weather in the region this weekend.

Thoughts From Head Coach Jay Sawvel

“I’m pleased with the effort and pleased on where we are at as a football team. Anytime you change one team to the next you have young players and new players who are inexperienced, and Thursday will be played like a game, and we are excited about that. We need to see some of the young guys go out there and play in a game scenario.”

Change in Schedule for Wyoming Cowboys

— Due to the forecast of rain and a wintry mix on Saturday, April 27 in Cheyenne, the Cowboy Football Spring Game at Okie Blanchard Stadium at Cheyenne East High School has been cancelled.

— Instead, Cowboy Football will host an open scrimmage that will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m. inside War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The scrimmage is free and opened to the public with gates opening at 3 p.m. Fans are asked to sit on the east side of War Memorial Stadium.

— The Cowboy Joe Club Spring Game After Party at Westby Edge Brewing set for Saturday has been postponed to a later date.
