Lucas of Nevada, Toppin From New Mexico Earn MW Player of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS – Nevada senior Jarod Lucas was named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while New Mexico rookie JT Toppin was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week.

JAROD LUCAS, NEVADA
Senior, Guard, Hacienda Heights, California/Oregon State
Led Nevada to a pair of victories over Temple (80-56) and TCU (88-75) at the Diamond Head Classic.
Averaged 23.5 points and four rebounds, while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 100 percent from the free-throw line.
Against Temple, scored a game-high 22 points, while adding two rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Recorded a game-high 25 points against TCU. Also registered six boards, a steal and an assist.

JT TOPPIN, NEW MEXICO
Guard, Las Vegas, Nevada/Liberty HS
Helped New Mexico to a 78-65 win over UC Irvine, the Lobos 10th victory in a row.
Recorded nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tied career-high mark of three steals.
