ASCEND TOGETHER: OUR PATH TO EXCELLENCE

COLORADO SPRINGS – As the Mountain West Conference celebrates its 25th Season, Commissioner Gloria Nevarez announced Monday the league's five-year strategic plan, “Ascend Together: Our Path to Excellence.

The Mountain West Conference strategic planning process began in February 2023 with the appointment of Boise State Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey and Air Force Academy Faculty Athletics Representative Colonel Meg Martin as the Strategic Planning Advisory Committee (SPAC) co-chairs. Dickey and Martin worked collaboratively with a broad and diverse group of committee members (listed below) to define the pillars of the plan.

The Ascend Together: Our Path to Excellence strategic plan establishes the league’s core values-based principles – Competitive Excellence, Academic Achievement, Integrity, Relentless Drive, and Community and Inclusion. The strategic priorities are supported by detailed internal objectives, goals, resources, and timelines to ensure accountability for implementation.

“Our strategic plan clearly defines the league’s vision, mission, value principles, and core strategic priorities,” said MW Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. “Our primary focus will be a best-in-class student-athlete experience. The tremendous work of the MW Strategic Planning Advisory Committee was based on input from nearly 10,000 members of the Mountain West community, including student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, presidents, members of the student body, media, alumni, former letterwinners, donors, and fans. This strategic plan provides a vibrant and malleable roadmap for our many years of success ahead.”
